What Is the DirectInsights Score?

The DirectInsights Score is a number from 0 to 100, generated by applying a Fundstrat algorithm to every stock assessed by Head of Technical Strategy Mark Newton using his proprietary methodology, which considers technical-analysis indicators like price action, trend, and momentum.

It combines two separate measures from that model: how timely a stock’s setup looks right now, and the overall strength of its short-term technical picture. A stock needs to score well on both to score well overall — a name that is timely but technically weak, or technically strong but poorly timed, will land in the middle rather than at the top.

It is called current because it is recalculated as prices move, so the number you see reflects the technical picture as of the latest calculation — not when the stock was first discussed. A score of 100 means the technical setup is rated as strongly as the model measures it; a low score simply means the technical picture does not rate as strongly at this moment, regardless of how our analysts feel about the company.
