It's been a rough few years for homebuilders. Actually, make that a rough couple of decades. A robust, profitable period of overbuilding, partially contributing to and preceding the collapse of the housing bubble and the global financial crisis in 2007/8 was followed by a prolonged period of underbuilding and anemic demand.
