Discussed in today’s video:

  • Bottoming on Bad News: Following U.S./Israeli airstrikes on Iran over the weekend, BTC declined ~4% to ~$63K before quickly recovering. By 9 a.m. ET Saturday, most losses had been retraced, well before clarity on the strikes’ effectiveness. The contained drawdown and rapid stabilization suggest positioning was relatively well hedged into the event and are consistent with a “bottoming on bad news” dynamic.
  • Spot-Led Rally, Shorts Fading Strength: BTC rallied from ~$65K to near $70K today. Open interest increased while funding rates turned more negative, indicating traders were shorting into strength. At the same time, the Coinbase premium expanded, pointing to strong U.S. spot demand, a constructive signal for bulls.
  • Macro Crosscurrents Still Live: Credit risks, firming rate expectations, and the ongoing defensive rotation remain potential overhangs. However, a roll-off in geopolitical risk premium could offset these headwinds in the near term. Crude and the VIX remain the key barometers. Stability in both would support further upside in crypto.
  • Macro Volatility Driving Hyperliquid Outperformance: Hyperliquid’s commodities markets facilitated weekend price discovery while traditional venues were closed, with crude trading into the low $70s ahead of the CME open. February aggregate commodities futures volumes exceeded $20B. Rising HIP-3 volumes suggest HYPE and PURR in our crypto equities portfolio should continue to outperform.
  • Regulatory Momentum Improving: Polymarket odds for the Clarity Act rebounded to 72%. Any tangible legislative progress would likely serve as a positive catalyst. I remain optimistic that the Clarity Act ultimately crosses the finish line, though timing may extend into April.
  • Bottom Line: Constructive, spot-led price action following a geopolitical shock, combined with incrementally improving regulatory signals, keeps the door open for a tactical rally.
